Fleisher and Reading Terminal Market, one of America’s oldest public markets, are excited to partner for the second annual design competition of the market’s reusable tote bags. The winning design, created by a Fleisher student, teaching artist, or member, will be featured on 10,000 bags, which are sold by the market’s many vendors. Artwork should reflect the spirit of the market and its legacy as it celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. A full history of the market is available online.

The competition is open to current Fleisher members as well as teaching artists and students who have taught or taken, respectively, at least one class at Fleisher from April 3, 2016, to the opening of the competition, April 3, 2017. The winner, selected by a small jury comprising three representatives from Reading Terminal Market and three from Fleisher, will receive a cash prize of $1,000. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the bags will benefit Fleisher's children and youth programming.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS
Artwork must be digital, vector-based graphics submitted in .eps or .ai file formats. Comps of the bag design may be submitted as JPEGs or PDFs, but final artwork must be available in .eps or .ai to be considered.

Please keep in mind that artwork will be printed on tote bags that have a semi-porous surface, so delicate details and fine lines drawings may be compromised. The background color of the bags will be green and yellow, reflecting the market's branding colors. The main panels, which you artwork will be featured on, will be dark green, and the side panels will be yellow. The bags are made of polypropylene. A maximum of two colors can be used in the design.

The artwork will be featured on the outer panels on the bag and must measure 15.25” tall by 13.25” wide. Artwork must include the market’s diamond shaped logo (artistic interpretations and alterations of the logo are not allowed and a vector image of the logo is available for download by clicking here) and URL (www.readingterminalmarket.org) and reflect the spirit of the market, which serves as a public trust providing a venue for independent local businesses to showcase the Philadelphia region’s culinary bounty and cultural diversity. 

SUBMISSION INFORMATION
Artwork, along with relevant contact information, must be submitted by 11:59 p.m.  May 15, 2017. Up to five submissions per entrant are allowed.

COMPETITION TIMELINE
April 3, 2017 – Competition opens at 9:00 a.m.
May 15, 2017– Competition closes. All submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m.
May 31, 2017 – Winner chosen and notified.
