Position Summary
Fleisher Art Memorial is seeking a lead teaching artist to teach Jewelry to students in Grades 9–12 as part of our Young Artists Program, beginning Saturday, September 6, 2025. This class offers high school students hands-on experience with jewelry-making techniques while encouraging creative exploration and personal expression through the metal arts. Additional Saturday and future teaching opportunities may also be available.
Who You Are
You are a skilled jewelry artist and experienced educator who is passionate about working with teens. You bring both technical expertise and a commitment to student-centered teaching. You’re excited to guide young artists through the creative and technical processes of jewelry-making, from foundational techniques to more complex projects. You create an inclusive and respectful studio environment that encourages experimentation, collaboration, and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Duties include, but not limited to):
- Develop thoughtful, engaging, and age-appropriate lesson plans focused on skill-building, creative exploration, and technique
- Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in dynamic classroom environments
- Promote and enforce safe studio practices, particularly with tools, torches, and shared materials
- Arrive 15–30 minutes prior to the start of class to prepare the studio environment
- Encourage students to participate in cleanup and resetting of the space at the end of each class
- Maintain clear and timely communication with Fleisher staff regarding scheduling, supplies, and curriculum
- Notify the Manager of Children and Youth as soon as possible regarding any schedule changes, delays, or absences
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in jewelry and metalsmithing
- Experience teaching high school-aged students (Grades 9–12) in a classroom or studio setting
- Ability to develop and deliver thoughtful, creative, and developmentally appropriate curricula
- Comfortable working in a studio environment with a wide range of tools and materials
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Language skills in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese are a plus

- PA Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance
- FBI Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Clearance
- Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training Certificate

- Guide and encourage students to participate in cleaning and resetting the studio space at the end of each session.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment that supports the learning and creative expression of all students.
- Communicate any schedule changes, delays, or absences to the Manager of Children and Youth to ensure continuity and coverage.
Qualifications
- Fluent in Spanish, with the ability to lead instruction and effectively communicate with students and families in Spanish.
- Demonstrated experience teaching visual arts to elementary-aged children

Position Summary
The Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a robust Event Rental program for Fleisher Art Memorial, including weddings, corporate events, non-profit partner fundraisers, and other client-focused initiatives. In this capacity, the Events Manager serves as the primary liaison for clients and vendors, ensures smooth event logistics, manages financial and compliance needs, and assures that the event coexists seamlessly with Fleisher’s classes and programs. The Events Manager also contributes significant support and coordination to several mission-driven organizational events, including signature fundraisers and community festivals.
This position requires a detail-oriented and mission-aligned individual with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The Events Manager works cross-functionally with Fleisher’s facilities, education, communications, and development teams, and supervises event support staff and volunteers as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Duties include, but not limited to):
Private Rentals & External Events
- Manage the full event lifecycle: respond to inquiries, conduct site visits, draft contracts, and serve as the on-site manager during the event.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring alignment with Fleisher’s standards and policies.
- Develop and maintain event timelines, floor plans, and setup instructions.
- Coordinate logistics, including vendor scheduling, floor plans, A/V needs, and site readiness.
- Oversee event setup/breakdown in collaboration with facilities and vendors.
- Maintain inventory and ensure upkeep of event equipment and spaces.
- Schedule, manage, and oversee payroll for Event Hosts that support large events.
Internal & Mission-Driven Events
- Partner with the Director of Community Outreach to coordinate logistics for signature community programming.
- Support the planning and execution of annual fundraising events (e.g., Founder’s Award).
Administrative & Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Maintain and share a centralized events calendar.
- Collaborate with Marketing to promote rental opportunities and update marketing materials.
- Participate in cross-departmental planning meetings to align events' strategic goals.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures and event checklists.
- Track and report event metrics for evaluation and improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in event management, including complex, multi-stakeholder events and audiences(e.g., weddings, performances, community festivals, fundraisers).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment from inception to completion, with attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Demonstrated small- and large-scale project development and management experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and willingness to learn new platforms (e.g., CRM, rental/event software).
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with others, seeking out and building positive working relationships.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and assist with event setup/breakdown.
- Ability to safely operate and move heavy security gates during building lock-up.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual fluency (Spanish strongly preferred).
- Experience in arts, nonprofit, or community-based organizations.
- Prior experience supervising event staff or volunteers.
- Familiarity with ADA compliance, event permitting, and safety regulations.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily performed on-site in an office or event setting
- Events may occur indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Occasional lifting, carrying, climbing, or physical setup required
- Requires a flexible schedule to support evening and weekend events
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $45,000 – $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience

ColorWheels is Fleisher’s mobile art studio, launched in 2012 and delivering creative experiences directly to community members in neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia.
The van is equipped with the tools and supplies needed for Fleisher’s teaching artists to guide community members in hands-on, culturally inspired mini-workshops, collaborative public art projects, and demonstrations of art techniques.

The exhibition provides our faculty the opportunity to showcase their work and in the process, promote their workshops and skills. We celebrate you and we thank you for being part of our mission of making art accessible to everyone.

Who is eligible to submit? Fleisher faculty that taught between Fall 2024 and Summer 2025 are eligible to participate in the exhibition.
How many pieces can I submit? 1
How large can my piece be? Your artwork should not exceed 40" in any direction.
When can I submit? The week of September 2 - 12, 2025. Drop-off hours are the same as our lobby hours. To make this process easy on our staff, we ask you to clearly label your work with your name and title of the work.

Fleisher Art Memorial Gallery Loan Agreement:
GENERAL CONDITIONS GOVERNING LOANS
- Under this agreement Fleisher Art Memorial will exercise the same care and respect to loans as it does in safeguarding its own property of the same or similar nature.
- This loan agreement transfers no copyright of Artist/Lender unless specifically stated in this agreement.
- Unless otherwise noted in writing, the loan will be delivered and picked up at Fleisher Art Memorial physical address of 719 Catharine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19127.
- Work left at Fleisher after November 4, 2025 at 5PM, will cease to be insured by the Fleisher Art Memorial.
- Fleisher Art Memorial will cover this loan while it is in its possession under its fine arts insurance policy for the amount indicated against all risks, including theft and physical damage while on location during the period of this loan which extends from the drop off date September 2, 2025 through November 4, 2025.
- For works that have been industrially fabricated and can be replaced to the artist's specifications, Fleisher’s liability shall be limited to the cost of the replacement.
- Fleisher retains 30% of each sale.
DOCUMENTATION
- Fleisher Art Memorial may obtain photographs for catalogue and publicity purposes.
- Unless it is refused in writing, it is understood that this loan may be photographed and reproduced solely as permitted by Section 107 and 108 of the United States Copyright Law for publicity purposes connected with any distribution for educational use.
