Position Summary
The Manager of Adult Education plays a key role in planning, designing, and delivering Fleisher’s adult programs, which are offered across four seasonal terms each year. This position is responsible for the overall strategy, quality, and day-to-day management of adult visual arts education at Fleisher. Reporting to the Director of Education and working in close collaboration with education staff and teaching faculty, the Manager ensures that Fleisher’s adult programming is inclusive, engaging, and responsive to the interests and needs of a diverse community of adult learners.
This role supervises the Coordinator of Education, who provides essential logistical and administrative support for all education programs. They also oversee a large, multidisciplinary team of teaching artists who represent a wide range of artistic practices, teaching styles, and cultural perspectives. The Manager facilitates regular communication and community-building with faculty, proactively addressing challenges and celebrating successes to strengthen relationships, foster a positive teaching culture, and ensure long-term faculty engagement and retention.
In addition to stewarding Fleisher’s long-standing foundational offerings, the Manager of Adult Education takes a forward-thinking, audience-centered approach to program development, identifying opportunities to expand Fleisher’s reach through new courses, formats, and collaborations that reflect contemporary practices and emerging interests. This includes engaging with current and prospective students, analyzing enrollment trends, and responding to the needs of Philadelphia’s diverse communities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Program Design, Planning & Evaluation
- Design, implement, and evaluate a dynamic schedule of adult education offerings for 4 terms a year, including weekly classes, workshops, intensives, and other formats across diverse visual arts disciplines.
- Ensure programs reflect Fleisher’s commitment to accessibility, equity, and community-centered learning.
- Develop and refine course curricula and program models in collaboration with teaching faculty and education staff.
Faculty Management & Professional Development
- Recruit, hire, and onboard a diverse and inclusive faculty of teaching artists, as well as teaching assistants and class monitors.
- Support faculty through regular feedback, annual performance reviews, and ongoing communication.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty to improve teaching practice, classroom management, and cultural competency.
- Facilitate regular faculty meetings and foster a strong, respectful teaching community.
Administrative & Operational Oversight
- Oversee the adult education budget, including its creation, ongoing tracking, forecasting, and proposing adjustments as needed to align with enrollment trends, program goals, and institutional priorities.
- Work closely with the Registrar to manage the scheduling of adult classes across four program terms, ensuring accuracy and alignment with studio availability and community needs.
- Work with theDirector of HR to manage payroll processes and ensure timely completion of new hire paperwork.
- Coordinate with Education Coordinator to ensure studios are prepared, materials and equipment are available, and classes are fully supported.
- Support the refinement and ongoing development of operational policies and procedures to enhance program effectiveness and improve the overall experience for students and faculty.
Community Engagement & Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for adult students and faculty, cultivating strong relationships and responsive communication.
- Lead or support meetings with community partners and collaborators as they relate to adult programming.
- Attend Fleisher events and public programs as needed to support organizational visibility and engagement.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in arts education program management, preferably in a community-based or nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing curriculum and programming specifically for adult learners in the visual arts.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including direct experience managing teaching artists, faculty, or education staff.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and cross-functional environment.
- Commitment to accessibility, equity, and inclusion in educational programming.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with equity-based teaching practices and inclusive curriculum design.
- Experience working with diverse communities and multicultural learning environments.
- Comfort with or interest in data-informed program evaluation and adapting offerings based on participant feedback.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site. During program terms, the standard schedule is Monday–Thursday, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., and Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support special events or program needs.
- Physical Requirements: Due to the layout of Fleisher’s historic building, the role may require the ability to navigate stairs and lift up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $50,000 - $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Position Summary
The Individual Giving Manager plays a key role in advancing Fleisher’s fundraising and engagement strategy by cultivating a thriving community of supporters through both individual philanthropy and membership. This position will design and implement strategies to expand Fleisher’s base of support, deepen donor and member engagement, and increase unrestricted and programmatic revenue through annual giving, mid-level and major giving, and membership growth.
By managing relationships with individual donors and leading a dynamic membership program, the Individual Giving Manager ensures that supporters see themselves as essential partners in Fleisher’s mission. Working collaboratively across departments, the Individual Giving Manager will align donor and member communications, stewardship, and cultivation with Fleisher’s values and brand, helping to build a culture of philanthropy and belonging that sustains Fleisher’s impact for years to come.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Donor & Member Strategy
- Manage and grow a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, focusing on annual gifts up to $10,000.
- Design and implement strategies to recruit, retain, and engage members, positioning membership as both a community touchpoint and a pathway to deeper philanthropy.
- Develop tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that inspire generosity and foster authentic connections.
- Partner with leadership to identify and qualify new prospects for major giving.
Annual Giving & Campaigns
- Lead the planning and execution of annual giving campaigns, including direct mail, digital appeals, and peer-to-peer initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing/communications staff to craft compelling donor and member-centric appeals, impact stories, and campaigns that align with Fleisher’s voice.
- Track and analyze giving and membership trends to inform ongoing strategy, forecasting, and goal-setting.
Stewardship & Engagement
- Plan and implement stewardship touchpoints, including timely acknowledgments, impact updates, member communications, and donor recognition.
- Design and execute member events and small-scale cultivation gatherings that celebrate art, build community, and highlight Fleisher’s mission in action.
Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM database to ensure the timely processing of gifts, memberships, renewals, and acknowledgments.
- Generate regular reports on donor and member activity, revenue progress, and retention rates.
- Utilize data insights to inform decision-making and refine programs.
Collaboration & Integration
- Work closely with the development team to align individual giving and membership strategies with institutional giving, events, and campaigns.
- Partner with program staff to connect donors and members with the stories and impact of Fleisher’s classes, exhibitions, and community-based work.
- Serve as an advocate for donors and members across the organization, ensuring their voices and experiences shape Fleisher’s culture of engagement.

Required Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of professional fundraising experience with a primary focus on individual giving, membership, or donor relations.
- Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors; consistent progress toward annual revenue goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build authentic, long-term relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey impact and inspire generosity.
- Experience managing donor/member databases (eTapestry, Raiser’s Edge, or similar CRM preferred).
- Proven ability to design and execute donor/member campaigns and engagement initiatives.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate cross-functional tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in arts/culture, community arts, museums, or education; familiarity with the Philadelphia philanthropic landscape is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with membership programs, monthly giving, and basic moves management/pipeline development.
- Comfort with prospect research tools and methods, as well as board/development committee engagement.
- Experience with digital fundraising platforms and email/marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp/Constant Contact, Classy/Donorbox/GiveLively); light design skills (Canva/Adobe Express).
- Knowledge of inclusive fundraising and accessibility best practices in donor communications and events.
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency (Spanish a plus).
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing a bold, integrated marketing and communications strategy that strengthens Fleisher’s reputation as a leader in community-based art education and ensures its programs are visible and accessible to the widest possible audiences.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Director partners with colleagues across departments to ensure cohesive storytelling and strategic alignment. In close collaboration with Development, the Director creates communications strategies that support donor engagement, philanthropic campaigns, and brand-aligned fundraising initiatives. With Programming, the Director drives participation in Fleisher’s classes, tuition-free programs, workshops, exhibitions, and community-based offerings, ensuring that communications inspire curiosity, foster belonging, and deepen community relationships.
The Director supervises Fleisher’s Digital Marketing Coordinator and works closely with external vendors as needed, balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.

- Manage media relations and act as Fleisher’s spokesperson when the Executive Director is unavailable.

Creative Direction & Content Development

- Collaborate with program staff to create inclusive, inspiring content that reflects Fleisher’s diverse audiences and community voice.
Administration & Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and provide professional development opportunities for the Digital Marketing Coordinator, fostering creativity and accountability.

- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications, preferably in nonprofit arts, culture, or education.

ColorWheels is Fleisher’s mobile art studio, launched in 2012 and delivering creative experiences directly to community members in neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia.
The van is equipped with the tools and supplies needed for Fleisher’s teaching artists to guide community members in hands-on, culturally inspired mini-workshops, collaborative public art projects, and demonstrations of art techniques.

Shoppers can expect quality handmade goods that reflect Fleisher's offerings, promoting diversity and inclusivity; the event will highlight vendors from El Mercado Cultural program—a unique initiative at Fleisher focusing on the entrepreneurial needs of the Latinx community—as well as a selection of local artists and craftspeople. During the event, Fleisher's 127th Annual Adult Student Exhibition will also be on display in the galleries, with many works for sale created by their talented community of artists.
