Wage Classification: Hourly,  Non-Exempt  $40,040/yr, $22/hr based on a 35-hour work week  

Start Date: January 6, 2025 

 

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Facilities Coordinator supports the Manager of Facilities in maintaining Fleisher’s campus, supporting educational and community programs, managing and building needs. Supporting Fleisher’s unique schedule of evening classes, workshops, and events, this position’s regular schedule is 3pm to 10:30pm in order to prepare the facilities for the next day’s operations. 

The Facilities Coordinator plays a key role in supporting year-round arts instruction, community events, and inclusive programming at Fleisher by executing setup and maintenance tasks and projects to prepare and maintain a safe, clean, and organized campus for all guests, staff, faculty, and students. The Facilities Coordinator works closely with the Facility Manager and Director of Facilities to manage both interior and exterior building maintenance projects and to support the day-to-day operations of a complex campus with multiple programming initiatives. They work with the Education and Community Outreach staff to carry out work in fulfillment of departmental and organizational needs and goals. They are a key staff member in the pursuit of campus-wide security and maintenance protocols. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

FACILITY AND STUDIO USE AND MAINTENANCE : 

  • Complete classroom setups on a daily basis and participate in facilities projects such as construction and deep cleaning/reorganizations between terms.  
  • Make repairs to building exteriors and interiors when appropriate, including woodworking, masonry, plumbing and other facilities projects as assigned by the Manager of Facilities.  
  • Complete the setup and breakdown of classrooms, meeting spaces and other areas for use in Fleisher’s programming and events.  
  • Perform routine cleaning of indoor and outdoor facilities, including sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, removing trash and recycling, maintaining restrooms and other custodial duties.  
  • Support campus groundskeeping projects including leaf, snow, and trash removal.  
  • Support classroom equipment upkeep and cleaning including easels, tables, chairs and shelving.  


FACILITY SAFETY AND SECURITY : 

  • Execute safety and security initiatives including facility safety (i.e. fire drills, fire exits, gas tank checks, building repairs) and personnel safety (i.e. door and key monitoring, alarm setting, parking lot ).  
  • Conduct end of day building closures, prioritizing equipment safety, personnel safety as well as campus & building security.  


INSTITUTIONAL EVENTS AND FACILITIES TEAM PROJECTS : 

  • Assist and support with Exhibition Installation and Gallery Maintenance. 
  • Coordinate Facilities team efforts to support and setup for strategically important institutional events, including fundraisers, community festivals and external rentals.
  • Review, create, and execute Work Orders submitted by staff and faculty. 


REQUIRED/PREFERRED RELATED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Proven experience in carpentry, wirework, masonry and/or plasterwork.  
  • Ability to set-up, manage, operate, and repair basic event equipment. 
  • Ability to work autonomously and flexibly in a complex environment of competing priorities for resources and time. 


ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • Must be able to lift 80 lbs. safely 
  • Must be able to climb 12’ ladder safely 
  • Well-developed time management skills 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills  
  • Computer skills required: Word, Excel, Outlook 
  • Attention to detail, impeccable organizational skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team-member. Able to prioritize multiple projects in a busy environment accurately, efficiently, and with a high level of attention to detail, balancing and satisfying competing deadlines and personalities, maintaining professionalism under pressure and in sensitive and difficult situations. 
  • Ability to exercise a high level of discretion and confidentiality (in interactions with both internal and external people) concerning all work-related information. Ability to know when to ask questions and when to take initiative. 
  • Awareness and practice of safe working habits, especially when using machinery and potentially hazardous materials. 
  • Ability to understand needs and retain awareness of schedule of school programs 
  • Ability to identify scope of job and follow through to completion in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written directions accurately
