End Date: Friday, August 2, 2024 



Under the supervision of Fleisher’s Manager of Children & Youth Education, Summer Camp Teaching Assistants are essential to camp as they support Lead Teaching Artists during class periods, transition campers between activities, and act as counselors by leading games and ensuring safety throughout the day. 


Teaching Assistants for Fleisher’s Summer Camp have varying schedules of six-to-eight-hour shifts between 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. Depending on the shift, Teaching Assistants support camper drop-off, art classes, lunches, and After Camp Club. Teaching Assistants are assigned to support art classes for ages between 5 – 18 years old. During art class, this position supports set-up, clean-up, and works with campers who need further instruction or behavioral support. During drop-off, lunch, and After Camp Club, Teaching Assistants act as camp counselors, maintaining safety procedures, playing games, and engaging with campers, a well as transitioning campers from space to space.  

All Teaching Assistants must attend a mandatory training session for staff and faculty on Friday, June 14 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Week 1: June 17 to June 21*
*No class on Wednesday, June 19 

Week 2: June 24 to June 28 

No week 3 classes available 

Week 4: July 8 to July 12 

Week 5: July 15 to July 19 

Week 6: July 22 to July 26 

Week 7: July 29 to August 2 

Ideal Candidate: You are over 18 years old and interested in or have experience in the arts and working with children. You are comfortable working as a team member and with teaching artists, other teaching assistants, and Fleisher staff. You are high energy and comfortable spending long periods on your feet. 


  • Must be at least 18 years old.  
  • Experience working with children in formal or informal settings (babysitter, camp counselor, after-school etc…) 
  • Familiarity working with neurodivergent students preferred. 
  • Enthusiastic about spending time playing with children. 
  • Familiarity with art education preferred. 
  • Ability to work as a team member with other teaching artists, teaching assistants, and Fleisher staff.  
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks outside in various climates.  
  • Language skills in Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese a plus.  
  • Clearances and Certifications required before the start of Camp:  
  • PA Child Abuse History  
  • FBI Background check with fingerprinting  

COMPENSATION $16/hour, Part-time

 Benefits for Temporary, Part-time Staff Include:

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Setting up and cleaning up studios with Lead Teaching Artists 
  • Supporting students in class who may need additional support 
  • Interacting and engaging with students during non-class time (drop-off, lunch, and After Camp Club) 
  • Respectful of students, parents, partner employees, and Fleisher Staff 
  • Inform therelevant Manager of any unexpected change of plans such as illness or other absences as soon as possible
